In a major vote of confidence for director James Gunn and his motley crew, Marvel chose the closing moments of Saturday’s Hall H Comic-Con panel to cheekily announce a sequel is on the way in 2017. Relayed in typically informal fashion by Gunn and Chris “Star Lord” Pratt, the news took the form of a video in which the two men joke about blowing the lid on a GOTG 2 release date. This was revealed to be Jul 27th.
It’s certainly going to generate more buzz for a movie with stronger advance word than a cupcake baked by Nigella Lawson. We’ll bring you all the news on the development of the project as it flies in accompanied by a gun-toting raccoon.
Read our review of GOTG here and stay tuned for a special report from the London press conference.
