johnny-depp-cigarette.jpgJohnny Depp is deep in talks to star opposite Angelina Jolie in the film The Tourist. In the film, Depp would play an American tourist drawn into a web of intrigue by a female Interpol agent (Jolie) who is attempting to locate a criminal who was once her lover.

No director is attached to the film as yet, but the word on the street is that Children of Men helmer Alfonso Cuaron is being lined up to step behind the camera.

Graham King will produce the film with Tim Headington, Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Jonathan Glickman. Julian Fellowes penned the original script; Christopher McQuarrie and Jeffrey Nachmanoff did rewrites, according to Variety.

Johnny Depp is to play guitar live with his favourite British band.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor is being lined up to appear with Babybird next month when they make their comeback at a small London venue.

Johnny, 46, has already played a large part in the 'You're Gorgeous' hitmakers' return, by directing the video to the first single from their new album 'Ex-Maniac'.

He was pictured on the set of the video with British actor Stephen Graham - who he starred alongside in 'Public Enemies' - in September.

Johnny Depp only plays the special roles

johnny-depp-fans.jpgJohnny Depp only plays "special" characters.

The Hollywood actor has revealed he takes great care when deciding which films he wants to appear in and will only accepted a movie role if he finds it fascinating.

He said: "The person I represent must be somehow special. I was totally fascinated of John Dillinger in 'Public Enemies' for example. And Captain Jack Sparrow was revolutionary - a bank robber but at the same time national hero. At that time banks were hated - like today. I see him as a sort of Robin Hood."

Johnny Depp's "greatest fear" is his children becoming actors.

The 'Public Enemies' star - who has 10-year-old daughter Lily-Rose and Jack, seven, with French singer Vanessa Paradis - is worried his children's interest in his career will see them follow in his Hollywood footsteps.

He said: "One thing is certain - neither of them will ever get bored. I always show them my various costumes and they love it. My children seem to take my job for granted. But I honestly hope that Lily-Rose and Jack don't want to become actors - that's my greatest fear!"

pe-bd.jpgOne of my favourite films of this year is the Johnny Depp/ Christian Bale starrer PUBLIC ENEMIES, which was released in the summer. I had the excellent opportunity to sit in the same room as both Johnny Depp and director Michael Mann earlier on this year after watching the film for the first time myself. It really is one of the best of the year.

Actor Johnny Depp is apparently refusing to commit to starring in the fourth PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie, according to reports today. Depp announced PIRATE OF THE CARIBBEAN 4 alongside recently fired Disney chairman Dick Cook at the D23 expo a couple of weeks ago.

pirates-4-depp.jpg"There's a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment... It was all born in that office," Depp said referring to a verbal agreement he made with Cook about the new flick. It seems that he only agreed because of his friend's (Cook) involvement.

depp-donquixote.jpgAccording to The Independent newspaper in the UK, Johnny Depp will not appear in Terry Gilliam's soon-to-be-re-charged THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE film. Nope!

Gilliam told the newspaper:

"I can now honestly say that I'm not working with Johnny on DON QUIXOTE. He's booked himself up on a lot of other films."

"I want to shoot Don Quixote next year. "He [Depp] said he's not available and we have both agreed that I'm going to die soon, so it would be nice to get this film under my belt." The director added.

"We've written it and we're out there hunting actors and money as we speak."

Gilliam tried to make the film many years ago, to no avail, despite the film actually making it into production (with Depp), which is now part of Hollywood history after being immortalised in the feature documentary LOST IN LA MANCHA.
PUBLIC ENEMIES is in cinemas everywhere now, and it really is one of the better films of the year so far. Here's a look at Johnny Depp, Michael Mann and some of the other cast members of the UK premiere in London's Leicester Square the other night. To read what I thought of the film, click it right here. Hit play below for the premiere footage and some clips from the film itself.

In the action-thriller Public Enemies, acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard in the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp)--the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.
