DEAD MAN'S CARDS is a gritty underworld thriller in the tradition of The Long
Good Friday, and early Scorsese. Set in Liverpool, in the tough nocturnal world
of club land, the film stars Paul Barber, Tom Bell, Samantha Janus, Gary Mavers
and James McMartin. DEAD MAN'S CARDS is director James Marquand's first feature,
and is produced by him along with Matthew Whyte and Sigvaldi Karason. Executive
producers are Steven Corless and Phillip Evers. Los Angeles-based Shoreline Entertainment
is handling worldwide sales for the film. DEAD MAN'S CARDS is a presentation of
Stray Dogs Productions Ltd and was filmed at the Liverpool Film studios and on
locations in the North West of England. The
story is conceived as a modern western where ex-Boxer Tom gets work as a doorman
at a run down nightclub. The volatile head doorman Paul is a battle hardened veteran
who recognises Tom for the fighter that he once was, and guides him through the
ins and outs of life as a club land 'peace keeper'. Tom
soon finds out he has entered a world of trouble when Chongi, the head of the
largest security firm, has a score to settle with Paul, and stakes an interest
in the down at heel night-club. As the tension escalates Tom is forced to question
his new loyalties, and find out whether he has lost the bottle for a fight. Official
