scream-movie.jpgHorror supremo Kevin Williamson has revealed his plans for 'Scream 4'.

The 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' writer plans to introduce enough new characters in the next film to last him through 'Scream 5' and 'Scream 6', which he also hopes to make.

Kevin said: "The fourth one is an ensemble. It'll take place right now, 10 years later, and it's going to take place in character Sidney Prescott's hometown of Woodsboro. The film will star husband and wife team David Arquette and Courteney Cox, who have starred in the first three films in the series.

paranormalactivity.jpgParamount Pictures are reportedly greenlighting a sequel to this year's break out super-sleeper hit Paranormal Activity. The film was made for a platry $15,000, but went on to make a huge $84.6 million at the US box-office alone!

The Hollywood Reporter
reports:

Given that a follow-up release wouldn't have the same element of surprise as "Paranormal," it will be key to craft a smart approach to a sequel, he said. "Our team will come up with the right creative and marketing approach to make sure that we benefit from a sequel," Dauman said.

Ridley Scott talks Alien prequel

ridley-scott-alien.jpgDirector Ridley Scott has opened up and revealed some interesting details about the planned Alien prequel that he is involved with. The legendary British director spoke to Empire magazine in the UK.

"It's a brand new box of tricks," said Scott. "We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It's very difficult to put a year on 'Alien,' but [for example] if 'Alien' was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior."

Jon Spaights is writing the script.

nightmareonelmstreet--500.jpgJackie Earle Haley has promised a "deeper" 'Nightmare on Elm Street' remake.

The actor is set to play Robert Englund's iconic character Freddy Krueger in the forthcoming movie and says filmmakers have done their best to pay homage to the horror franchise while still offering a fresh angle.

He said: "I think the glove is pretty familiar. It's really important for us, I think, as we're re-imagining this that there is a good, strong sense of new and fresh -- yet there's some recognisability, you know?
texas-chainsaw.jpgThe folks that make the SAW series of movies, Twisted Pictures, are looking to take over the franchise for THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. That means that they will hold the rights to both Jigsaw and that evil, power tool wielding monster Leatherface.

The trade paper Variety revealed that the plan is to contemporize the storyline for a 3D film that would be scripted by Stephen Susco, who was behind THE GRUDGE remake. Twisted will get a multi-picture deal for the franchise, which is more than the folks at Platinum Dunes, the people that were behind the last two movies, had. They were on a one picture deal.

SamRaimi.jpgTHE EVIL DEAD director Sam Raimi has launched a news production banner to make thrillers for family audience, so says Variety. Spooky Pictures will first remake the Danish film THE SUBSTITUTE, which THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE helmer Scott Derrickson will direct. The trade says that Columbia Pictures will co-finance and distribute through a first-look deal with Spooky.

Derrickson will also write the script for the aforementioned film with Paul Harris Boardman. The film revolves around a terrified sixth-grade class as the students race to reveal to their parents that their new substitute teacher is an evil alien being. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce.
halloween-3d-shut-down.jpgAccording to a couple of Internet websites, pre-preproduction has officially halted on Dimension FIlms' planned HALLOWEEN 3-D.  A new version of the film's script was apparently turned in last Friday by Todd Farmer, but now Bob Weinstein of Dimension Films feels the project is being rushed, hence the stopping of production.

Director Patrick Lussier has an apparent short window to shoot the film before he starts work on the Nicolas Cage starrer DRIVE ANGRY early in 2010.
