Michael Caine hopes he performance in 'Harry Brown' is worthy of a Best Actor Oscar.

The veteran British actor - who has twice won Oscars for Best  Supporting Actor, in 1986 and 1989 - said he gave his absolute best performance in the film, and said if it's not worth an Oscar, he'll never top it.

He said: "There was one very difficult scene when the police tell me my friend has died. I'm completely straight-faced, then the moment they leave I burst into tears.

steve-martin-oscars.jpgSteve Martin and Alec Baldwin will host the 2010 Academy Awards. Trade paper Variety have posted the breaking news on their website. The duo will serve as cohosts of the 82nd annual Academy Awards, which will air live March 7 on ABC.

Martin has hosted the Oscarcast twice before. Baldwin, star of NBC's "30 Rock," was a supporting actor nominee in 2003 for "The Cooler."
StillerDowney.jpgThe word on the street at the moment is that both Robert Downey Jr. and funnyman Ben Stiller recently turned down the chance of hosting next year's Academy Awards. According to Nikki Finke, the two passed on the thankless task of doing the gig after being offered it by producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman.

Hugh Jackman has also turned down the job (after doing an amazing one last year), so who will host the Oscars 2010? We'll keep you posted.

Downey Jr and Stiller starred opposite each other in last year's Tropic Thunder.

Adam Mast reviews the Kathryn Bigalow flick...

Studio embargo often prohibits writers from discussing movies they see at functions like ShoWest. Usually, its because we're being permitted to see these pictures far in advance of their respective release dates. While The Hurt Locker doesn't open until late June, I'm going to talk about it anyway. Partly because I've seen it reviewed on several other sites, but mostly because I think it's an amazing film. In fact, don't be surprised if you see this baby on my best of 2009 list.

pinewood.jpgBosses at Pinewood Studios in the UK have submitted planning permission to build massive film sets that include a Venician canels, Paris and New York set streets and a Roman amphitheatre. The Daily Mail reports:

Pinewood Shepperton said that following extensive public consultation, it will today be putting forward the planning application to South Bucks District Council for Project Pinewood.

The project is described as 'a long term scheme of national significance to create a living and working community for the creative industries'.

The development, estimated to cost around £200million, features backdrops, including a Venetian canal, a Roman amphitheatre, a Tudor marketplace for period dramas and street scenes from downtown New York, French Quarter New Orleans, European townhouses, as well as a Chicago suburb, some of which could be visible from the M25.

The company is planning to incorporate up to 1,500 homes - a mix of apartments, town and detached houses - in the development.

The project was announced in 2007. Click here for more.

miley.jpgThe MTV Awards took place last night and the teenage vampire film TWILIGHT swept the board at the annual event, but the big news on the night is that Eminem stormed out as Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno literally landed on top of the rapper. Read more about that here.

Miley Cyrus (above), Robert Pattinson and even Heath Ledger were all winners on the night.  Adam Samberg hosted this year's bash. We have all of the winners from the official press release after the jump.

It seems that Sacha Baron Cohen's creation Bruno ruffled Eminem's feathers at last night's MTV Movie Awards. Bruno entered the auditorium and landed right on top of Eminem's head, thus making the rapper storm out. We're not sure if Slim was in on the stunt, but he sure didn't seem happy. See it here on You Tube...
