Drew Barrymore learnt everything she knows from Steven Spielberg.

The actress was just five years old when she starred in the iconic director's 1982 hit 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial', and the pair have been firm friends ever since.

The 34-year-old star said: "I've spent my whole life working with more than 60 directors, so I've picked up all kinds of tips. Steven Spielberg has been a big help.

"He gave me great notes. He's a wonderful mentor."

Drew Barrymore stepped out on the red carpet last night for the Hollywood premiere of her directorial effort WHIP IT. Yep, Barrymore joined her god-daddy and E.T. director Steven Spielberg for the shin-dig, along with Ellen Page and a whole host of other celebs. Here are a few of the pics, courtesy of phun.org. marie-claire-drew-ellen.jpgYep, the CHARLIE'S ANGELS actress and JUNO star 'lez' it up in the October edition of Marie Claire magazine in the US. The pair are larking around flowers and rollerskates for the shoot which is to celebrates Drew's directorial debut WHIP IT, which stars Page.

"Curious. Kind. And the word ethical is coming to me..." Said Drew of Ellen.

"Luminous. Compassionate. Intelligent." Said Ellen of Drew. The two were apparently summing each other up using just three words. See?

The two met at the infamous Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Page added:

"It was a surreal moment for me... You could just feel her warmth and kindness immediately, and the way she carried herself was just so grounded. "So then it was like: 'Oh, this is going to be great'. And then it went into: 'Oh my God, I'm really crazy about this person.' "It just grew and grew and grew and grew and grew."

WHIP IT hits cinemas later in the year.

et.jpgI read in this month's Empire magazine that Steven Spielberg would not even consider making a sequel to his classic 1982 movie E.T. but it seems that the National Enquirer has a better source. Celebutopia reports:

According the National Enquirer, Barrymore and Spielberg have met to discuss the project, which will show E.T. returning to Earth to rejoin the now-adult Gertie.

A source told the tabloid, "Steven and Drew are being very secretive about this baby. But they want to do this project and work together. Steven has an incredible story in mind for the sequel that will bring E.T. back to earth."
