No Rourke as Marv in Sin City 2?
Posted in: Movie News, Comic Book Movie News
The hotter than hot right now Mickey Rourke has been speaking to Coming Soon and has revealed that he isn't all that interested in returning to one of the roles that re-ignited his film career, SIN CITY. The actor played the role of Marv in the original film, which is directed by Robert Rodriguez.

"No, I'm not interested in that right now. That's not a reality right now. It's pissing in the wind," Rourke admitted. "There's different factions going different directions there. I don't know. That's three hours of make up and I'm claustrophobic, so I'm going to have to work something out."

Posted in: Movie News, Comic Book Movie News
wolve-empire2.jpg
Those lucky blighters at Empire magazine got to visit the set of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and have posted and indeed printed a report on their website and in the actual mag this month. Along with the report comes a superb cover featuring Mr. Hugh Jackman as Wolvie! Here's a snippet from the article, and the cover. Look out for it in store right about now!

"There's a scene in the first X-Men movie," said Jackman, "where Wolverine's introduced in a bar, fighting in a cage, and you felt that he did this every night of his life. If this movie is successful, you should feel that this guy can walk straight off the end of this film and into that bar. "

Downey Jr on The Avengers film
Posted in: Movie News, Comic Book Movie News
Robert Downey Jr has been talking up the planned Avengers movie, which will unite a whole bunch of Marvel characters upon its release in 2012, or something. It seems that doubts are being made, and it's a little uncertain about how the whole thing will be approached. Here's the man talking to MTV.

"The danger you run with colliding all these worlds is [director] Jon [Favreau] was very certain that 'Iron Man' should be set in a very realistic world. Nothing that happened in 'Iron Man' is really outside the realm of possibility. Once you start talking about Valhalla and supersized super soldiers and jolly green giants it warrants much further discussion."

Tim Blake Nelson talks villains for Hulk 2
Posted in: Movie News, Comic Book Movie News
The huge website that is Aint It Cool News has caught up with actor/ filmmaker Tim Blake Nelson about his role in a proposed sequel to this year's THE INCREDIBLE HULK, which is in the works apparently. Apparently Nelson is up to play the bad guy in the new peace, a cat called The Leader. Here's an excerpt.

Quint: Great well what about a potential HULK sequel? Gale Anne Hurd's been going around talking about how you might be The Leader and the main villain of the next one.
Tim Blake Nelson: That's the plan. That's what they tell me, but I don't know when that's happening or what the details are but I am eager to do it and I hear that's in the works. I would tell you if I knew more, but I honestly don't.

Quint: Yeah, but you haven't played a comic-book villain yet right?
Tim Blake Nelson: No, but I had a great time doing HULK, so if they want me for HULK 2 I'm there, it certainly was the plan going into HULK 1. When I met with them they said this is where it’s headed so I'm eager to do it.

Here's why Terrence Howard was replaced in Iron Man 2
Posted in: Movie News, Comic Book Movie News
ironman_4.jpg
The folks over at Entertainment Weekly have [apparently] managed to get to the bottom of the whole 'why is Terrence Howard no in Iron Man 2' question.  It was all said to be down to Howard being difficult to work with during the shooting of the first movie, hence why Don Cheadle has replaced him as Jim Rhodes. That's apparently not the case: Read on...

"Howard was the first actor signed to the film and, on top of that, was the highest-paid. That's right: more than Gwyneth Paltrow. More than Jeff Bridges. More than Robert Downey Jr. And once the project fully came together, it was too late to renegotiate his deal. It didn't help that, according to one source, Favreau and his producers were ultimately unhappy with Howard's performance, and spent a lot of time cutting and reshooting his scenes."

Nolan talks third Batman movie
Posted in: Movie News, Comic Book Movie News
chris-nolan.jpg
Director Christopher Nolan has returned from his holiday and has made his first comments about a follow up to this summer's box-office smash THE DARK KNIGHT.

So, will he do another one?

He spoke out to the Los Angeles Times at the recent Scream awards: "There are two things to be said. One is the emphasis on story. What's the story? Is there a story that's going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That's the overriding question. On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? [Laughs.] At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there haven't been too many of those either. It's all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible."

What Nolan is bound to do is another film before the next Batman, if he does one. So, does he have any thoughts as to what that may be?

"After "Batman Begins," I certainly felt like taking on something smaller, but one of the things I got such a thrill from on "The Dark Knight" was shooting on Imax and creating that massive scale and achieving that larger-than-life quality. So that's a lot of fun. I'm drawn in both directions now. So maybe what I need to do next is a very intimate, small story that happens to be photographed on a ridiculously large scale. Or vice versa [laughs]."

Howard shocked at Iron Man 2 'sacking'
Posted in: Movie News, Comic Book Movie News
Oscar nominated actor Terrence Howard has spoken out at his apparent 'sacking' from the upcoming IRON MAN film. Don Cheadle will replace Howard as Jim Rhodes in Jon Favreau's sequel.

Speaking to NPR, Howard explained: "It was the surprise of a lifetime," he said.

"There was no explanation. [The contract] just... up and vanished. I read something implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on. Promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up."

Robert Downey Jr. will return as Tony Stark in the Marvel sequel, which kicks off shooting next year.
