Late
actor and director Christopher Reeve received a posthumous
nomination from the Director's Guild of America, on
Monday, in regards to his efforts on TV Movie 'The Brooke
Ellison Story'.
The
movie, broadcast on A&E last October, starred Lacey
Chabert as a young woman who overcame paralysis after
a car crash, able to communicate and move only through
her mouth.
Nominees
alongside Reeve for this year are Robert Altman (Tanner
on Tanner), Stephen Hopkins (The Life And Death Of Peter
Sellers), Lloyd Krammer (The Five People You Meet In
Heaven) and Joe Sargent (Something The Lord Made).
In
an official press release, DGA president Michael Apted
insisted not only on Reeve's but all the nominees' social
involvement through their work.
"The work of the five nominated directors exemplifies
the power and strength of the art form for the past
forty years - where controversial social issues and
compelling personal stories are writ large for the small
screen," Apted wrote.
