X-Factor winner Leona Lewis has become the first British female solo artist to have her debut album hit number one in the US album charts. Her album, which features the track Bleeding Love, also a number one around the world, shifted 205,000 copies across the United States last week.

Her mentor Simon Cowell said: "This is the hardest market to crack and for her debut album to go in at number one is unbelievable."
