Sony Pictures' Screen Gems are planning to remake the classic Jane Austen novel EMMA for the screen. The new film will be a contemporary set, hip-hop tale based around the original story.
Trade paper Variety says that the flick, a musical, takes place at an inner-city high school, and revolves around a
stepbrother and stepsister. The film will include at least 15 song and
dance numbers.
The new film, which will probably be entitled EMME, is written by Tyger Williams.
