Variety are reporting that Paramount Pictures have bought the rights to LOST CITY OF Z, a movie that will revolve around the search for a lost city in the Amazon. The movie is being produced by Brad Pitt's production company Plan B with Pitt looking to potentially star.
The trade says that the film revolves around British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who was attempting to find the so-called City of Z when he and his party disappeared in 1925. Over the next 70 years,
scores of explorers tried and failed to retrace Fawcett's path,
including a 1996 expedition of Brazilian adventurers. Pitt would play
the lead role of Fawcett.
The film will be based around a 2005 New Yorker article written by David Grann.
