According to The Hollywood Reporter, British actress Thandie Newton is in final talks to play National Security Advisor-turned-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Oliver Stone's upcoming W, a film about
The George W. Bush administration.
Also in 'final talks' is fellow Brit Ioan Gruffudd, who is set to play former British
prime minister Tony Blair. The trade says that Josh
Brolin, James Cromwell, Elizabeth Banks and Ellen Burstyn had
previously been cast as George W., George Sr., Laura and Barbara
Bush, respectively.
The movie, set to start shooting shortly, will look at Bush's formative years and path to the
president as well as his life inside the White House. Roles yet to be cast include Vice President Dick
Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and advisor Karl Rove.
