According to The Hollywood Reporter, British actress Thandie Newton is in final talks to play National Security Advisor-turned-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Oliver Stone's upcoming W, a film about The George W. Bush administration.

Also in 'final talks' is fellow Brit Ioan Gruffudd, who is set to play former British prime minister Tony Blair. The trade says that Josh Brolin, James Cromwell, Elizabeth Banks and Ellen Burstyn had previously been cast as George W., George Sr., Laura and Barbara Bush, respectively.

The movie, set to start shooting shortly, will look at Bush's formative years and path to the president as well as his life inside the White House. Roles yet to be cast include Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and advisor Karl Rove.
