Sir Michael Caine has revealed the ending to perhaps the biggest cliffhanger in British cinema history, THE ITALIAN JOB. The actor explained at the Visit London awards in the city that a sequel was devised for the 1960's movie, which featured a bus full of gold teetering off the end of a cliff at the end with Caine uttering the famous line: "Hang on boys, I've git an idea."

So what happens at the end then?

"In the coach I crawl up, switch on the engine, stay there for four hours until all the petrol runs out. The van bounces back up so we can all get out, but then the gold goes over." Caine revealed.

"There are a load of Corsican Mafia at the bottom watching the whole thing with binoculars. They grab the gold, and then the sequel is us chasing it."

THE ITALIAN JOB was remade earlier on this decade with Mark Wahlberg assuming the Caine role. A sequel is rumoured to be in development for that film.
