I take any news rumours posted today with a little pinch of salt, but this website is reporting that Jack Black is to play Mario, from the game Super Mario Brothers, in a new movie based around the pixeled plumber.
Famed for his crazed, eye-rolling antics in
films such as ‘Hi Fidelity’ and ‘School of Rock’, Black could certainly
bring his own take on the mushroom bouncing plumber. No director has
been mentioned yet, but we’re hoping Tim Burton will do for Mario, what
he did for Willy Wonka.
If true, Black would follow in the footsteps of Bob Hoskins, who previously portrayed Mario alongside John Leguizamo as Luigi in the film SUPER MARIO BROTHERS. Click here for more.
