Anthony Minghella, the Oscar winning director of films like THE ENGLISH PATIENT, THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY and COLD MOUNTAIN has died at the age of 54.The British helmer's agent said he suffered a brain hemorrhage at 5am this morning (March 18th) at Charing Cross Hospital in London. Minghella had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for a growth on his neck.
Minghella's last work was a BBC/HBO production entitled "No 1 Ladies Detective Agency," based on Alexander McCall Smith's novel, which debuts on BBC One next week. His last big cinema release was the Jude Law starrer BREAKING AND ENTERING.
