Review: The Haunting In Connecticut
Posted in: Movie Reviews, Horror Movie News
The-Haunting-in-Connecticut-5518.jpg
Beware of horror films that are "Based on a true story". Generally speaking, the true parts are either grossly exaggerated or completely made up. The new ghost story "The Haunting in Connecticut " proclaims to be "Based on a true story", but after watching it, I'd be hard pressed to tell you what parts, if any, are actually true. What I can tell you is, true or not, this is much better than David S. Goyer's silly "Exorcist" knock off "The Unborn".

Sam Raimi has started writing Evil Dead 4!
Posted in: Movie News, Horror Movie News
Director Sam Raimi has apparently started work on the fourth EVIL DEAD movie. Speaking to Empire this month, the SPIDER-MAN helmer says that he works on the film's script in chunks when he gets together with his older brother.

"We've got nine pages so far. Every time I'm with my brother Ivan, we write another page of it. It's in Detroit and in my garage." Raimi said.

"There's some dialogue. Ash being an idiot. Ash taking some abuse. Some character stuff and then some structure of Act Two.

"Just other possibilities for things that could happen. It's ideas, jokes, things we'd like to see."

Raimi wants Bruce Campbell to reprise his role of Ash in the flick.

The folks over at Bloody Disgusting are reporting that Robert Rodriguez is all set to produce a brand new PREDATOR movie. The film will not be a direct sequel. Oh no. Instead, this is going to be another reboot, just like Universal's THE THING redo, which was announced by the trades this morning. Nobody else is as yet attached, but the site did have this to say about the proposed plot. More than one predator?

More on Iron Man 2 Jim Rhodes replacement
Posted in: Movie News, Horror Movie News
I've just finished watching the IRON MAN film. It's November, and the film was released back in May, but, what can I say? I haven't felt the urge to search out the film to see what all the fuss is about. Well, I watched it the other day, and do you know what? Pisses all over the Hulk. Both Hulks. Brilliant. I love what Favs has done with it, and I really want to see where the second film goes... which brings me nicely onto this article. It seems that a recent article in Entertainment Weekly made a few minor errors regarding Terrence Howard's replacement in the form of Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes in IRON MAN 2.

The EW article said that due to the over-sized paycheck and disputes with Howard over his role of Rhodes in the first film, director Jon Favreau was thinking of curtailing the character in the second's story and that a reduced salary offer rejected by Howard's people lead to Cheadle taking over the role.

Howver, IRON MAN 2 writer Justin Theroux said: "I can only tell you what I know which is that from a writing standpoint we didn’t do anything differently [with the character]. It’s not like we were sitting there going, we need less of this or that. We just approached the characters and the story on their own terms...Rhodes is completely present in a very strong and big way…He’s COMPLETELY present."

Glad we got that cleared up then. IRON MAN 2 will be released in 2010.

First image from Romero's new zombie flick
Posted in: Horror Movie News, Movie Stills
The first image from George A. Romero's next zombie film ISLAND OF THE DEAD has been released through the newspaper USA Toda. Not much is revealed here, except for a lovely image of a lady-zombie. What the paper did reveal however, is a little more regarding the film's plot.

"In the sequel the Diary continues. Our heroes, trapped in the mansion where we left them, battle waves of ravenous zombies, barely escaping alive. In search of a safe place to settle, they commandeer an abandoned ferry and sail to a deserted island, only to find that it is already populated by a civilization of the dead. Told in the same first-person style as part 1, the next episode of the saga is a violent siege set in the middle of nowhere, a desperate struggle for survival, and peace, between two tribes: the living and the living dead."

Here's the pic.
