I read other folks’ reviews and learned some details about the DVD for Can’t Hardly Wait, another flick from Josie’s directors. Though my dislike for Josie
should have dissuaded me from any interest in their other work, one
element of the DVD intrigued me. I heard it had a terrific audio
commentary. Since I’m a huge fan of those tracks, I decided that I
needed to give Wait a look.

As a sucker for most things canine, I figured 2009’s Hotel for Dogs
merited a look. The film focuses on orphaned siblings Andi (Emma
Roberts) and Bruce (Jake T. Austin). They’ve bounced from one foster

Dillon) and Lois (Lisa Kudrow).

Unfortunately, too much of the rest of Stories
follows a well-worn Disney path. Honestly, there’s almost nothing about
the tale that stands out as unusual in terms of characters and their
arcs. The movie doesn’t worry about logic or common sense in a lot of
ways, and it throws out a lot of predictable elements. Seriously, the
second that Skeeter meets Jill (Keri Russell) and they hate each other,
does anyone doubt that they’ll fall in love?

Have audiences finally started
to tire of Jim Carrey? Not entirely, but the funnyman no longer churns
out massive box office smashes on a regular pace. Carrey seems able to
produce decent receipts but he’s not produced a mega-hit since 2003’s Bruce Almighty.
