Team Rambos fought like Rambo himself
to be crowned the new World Champions at this year’s annual Swamp
Soccer World Championship which took place in the Scottish town of Strachur,
Argyll.
To celebrate the DVD and Blu-ray release
of the latest action-packed Rambo adventure, the team, kitted out as
the action hero, battled mud and stiff competition to pick up the trophy.
The 3rd annual championship
included 42 teams and 100 matches over a three day period with entrants
travelling from as far a field as Switzerland and Russia to take part
in the mud-drenched event.
In true Rambo style the winners blew
their opposition away in the early rounds and beat last year’s defending
champions, The Fuddy Muckers, 5-4 in an explosive penalty shoot out
in the semi-final before overcoming The Angry Beavers in the final.
Team Rambos captain, David Butt commented,
“After three gruelling days in the swamp it was awesome to emerge
with the trophy. Rambo was definitely a huge inspiration for us this
year!”
Martin Hearn, Product Manager, SPHE added, “We are delighted Team Rambos won, it’s an amazing achievement. The DVD of Rambo is also set to score champion sales this week!”
