Singer Lily Allen's new BBC Three show, Lily Allen and Friends only managed to bag 255,000 viewers for the debut show on Tuesday night (February 12). The new show, aimed at the social networking generation, managed just a 2% share of the total mutli-channel audience share when it screened, despite a high-profile, nationwide marketing campaign.
“Due to it being the first show we’ve done, we ran over a little and naturally
a small number of the audience had to catch the last trains back to wherever
they came from.”
A third of the audience were rumoured to have walked out during the recording of the show because it was 'so boring'.
Despite the low audience figures, Allen remained positive and wrote the following on her My Space page, the website that launched her.
“The audience
were great, standing in a hot studio for two hours watching me fluff my
lines is not my idea of fun, but they seemed to enjoy it.
