Jim Carrey is to star in I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS, a new low-budget comedy (well under 20 million USD) for Luc Besson's company EuroCorp.
The film, according to Variety, will see Carrey will play a conman whose love for a cellmate leads him to make several prison escapes. The trade goes on to say that the proposed movie, will be based on the book by Houston Chronicle crime reporter Steve McVicker.
The film is being directed by first timers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who wrote the superb BAD SANTA. The two will pen the screenplay for the film also.
As to when the film is to go before the cameras is in fact unknown, but Variety reports that Carrey is plotting back-to-back films that can be completed before the SAG contract expires next summer.
