Texas based filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is set to helm the new remake of the classic 60s movie BARBARELLA. The film is housed over at Universal, and is poised for a 2008 release.
The film, which is written by CASINO ROYALE team Neil Purvis and Robert Wade, is being produced by Martha and Dino De Laurentiis, who actually also produced the original 1968 version that starred Jane Fonda.
"I love this iconic character and all that she represents, and I'm truly excited by the challenge of inviting a new audience into her universe," Rodriguez told todays Variety.
The director will now develop the screenplay with Purvis and Wade. Want
