This means that all children under the age of 12, have to be accompanied by an adult in order to see the movie. The first three movies, A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi all received the U certificate (suitable for all), while the first two prequels received the slightly higher G certificate, meaning that parental guidence was advised.

Lucas expected the higher rating due to the "darkness" and "intensity" of the final episode.
