Too
bad the FOX channel wasn't around in the early 80's, cause I can't pin this one
on them with the rest of my cult favourite shows that met an untimely demise!
According
to the folks at MoviesOnline,
Paramount Home Entertainment is readying a DVD set for all of the ...ahem SIX
episodes of this criminally short-lived series. Director David Zucker, who valiantly
converted the concept into feature film instead and prevailed, said he was scheduled
to record some commentary tracks, but warns fans not to expect such supplement
as deleted scenes. "In those days, they just threw that stuff away."
Said Zucker.
Airing
in 1982 on ABC (and not FOX, darn it), the series put screen vet Leslie Nielsen
in a cop-shows parody boasting the staple Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker brand of visual
humour tried and tested with such gems as "Airplane" and "Top Gun".
Nielsen later answered the call to reprise the role for "The Naked Gun: From
The Files of The Police Squad", and it's two sequels.
No
precise date was given, but the studio hinted at June for the release.
