CORRECTED:
We ran the story below, but it seems that Moviehole.net wasn't in fact the source
for the story. It seems that Clint Morris, editor of Moviehole.net, is the film's
writer, and the story was sourced at the IMDB. We were sent an email with the
story pretty much as it appeared on THN on Friday. Kinda Chinese whispers Internet
style. Clint has however, emailed us at THN to give us an update on the film.
There
was a brief discussion about resurrecting the (POLTERGEIST) franchise, but when
MGM was sold to Sony, it was no longer a priority. They've got bigger fish to
fry - like the Bond series. As you could understand. Having worked now as a gun-for-hire/favour
jobs on a few franchises, like this, it's not uncommon for something to boil up,
then simmer down again. E.G, Beverly Hills Cop 4 (Paramount/Bruckheimer productions).
Instead,
I've gone off to work on a new ensemble thriller (hopefully there in the States),
worked writing wise on a couple of other franchise/tentpole flickeroos, and are
in talks to direct my first feature, here in Australia. Will rip the lid of the
beans when I can, but at the moment, "Poltergeist Kayeri" is about as
frozen as an Antarctic fisherman's Wang.
Plans
are afoot to add a new movie to the hugely successful POLTERGEIST series. The
original movie, directed by TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE helmer, Tobe Hooper, was produced
by one Steven Spielberg.
The new movie will be entitled POLTERGEIST: KAYERI
apparently. This one will revolve arounbd Native American mythology, according
to Clint and co. over at Moviehole.net.
Apparently,
Craig T. Nelson, who recently found fame in THE INCREDIBLES, is set to reprise
his role as the father in the film.
