Eat your heart out Hollywood, as the UK are
about to get their own 'walk of fame'. The Avenue of Stars will be located in
London's Covent Garden, and initially 100 names will be added to the walkway.
More wil be added each year, very much like the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los
Angeles. A live, three hour ITV television special will launch the avenue, which
will be in the grounds of St. Paul's.
Each
stars featured on the walk, must have been born in the United Kingdom or it's
Commonwealth countries. They will be given a silver star, with their name etched
accross it. The
fist sixteen names to be released are: Laurence Olivier, Ricky Gervais, Nicole
Kidman, John Cleese, Sir Alec Guinness, Sir Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin,
Peter Sellers, Sir Rex Harrison, Ronnie Corbett, Ronnie Barker, Tommy Cooper,
Billy Connolly, Dame Edna Everage, Dame Shirley Bassey, the Rolling Stones and
Ant and Dec.
The
live show will go out on September 18th, and a huge firework display will take
place on the Thames in the capital. Click
