Our
OSCARWATCH mini-site will return in the next couple of weeks ready for the big
lead-up to the event in Los Angeles in March, as well as the countless other awards
ceremonies that take place before then. Here's a little Oscar story to whet your
appetite, as it seems that the critically acclaimed and box-office smasher MARCH
OF THE PENGUINS, has been shortlisted for the Best Documentary gong. The movie
is among 15 movies up for the award, which was drawn from 82 eligable movies.
The remaining 14 are, After Innocence, The Boys of Baraka, Darwin's Nightmare,
The Devil and Daniel Johnston, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Favela Rising,
Mad Hot Ballroom ,Murderball, Occupation: Dreamland, On Native Soil: The Documentary
of the 9/11 Commission Report, Rize, Street Fight, 39 Pounds of Love and Unknown
White Male. These movies will be whittled down to just five, and they will be
announced with the other nominations on January 31st.
