Oscar
Winner Nicole Kidman is set to open Roma's first major film festival in nearly
60 years today. The nine-day event is believed by some to rival the Venice festival.
The last time that Roma hosted a major film festival was in 1946. There is a lineup
of 95 films included is an international competition slate of 16 films (none of
them from the US) which will vie for the festival's top honor, the Marcus Aurelius
prize.
