'The Rock' news, and the man himself on 'Doom'

An update for you on the current and future career of Dwane 'The Rock' Johnson. The Rock is in town at the moment promoting Be Cool and whilst hre he spoke to Empire Online about his role in the upcoming video gama adaptation of 'Doom'.

"[It's] an unapologetic rated-R movie that pulls no punches" and that he plays "the commanding officer who, without ruining it for everyone, turns bad". He also spoke a bit about the effects - "The monsters are real, they're not CGI. They're made by Stan Winston who did Jurassic Park and Predator and all that. So the monster's got weight and when they're in a scene they're like Aliens! I get to transform and become, I'm going to tell you this right now, the BMFOTP. Know what that means? It means the baddest motherfucker on the planet."

The Rock also briefly spoke of the poposed Johnny Bravo movie he's involved in.

"The script is so funny and we're just waiting for the right opportunity, waiting for the script to get even better. I'm on a quest to find my dad, and I think it's Wayne Newton, and it's insane."

In today's Variety, it was also revealed that 'Rock' may star opposite Van Wilder himself Ryan Reynolds in 'Ride Along', a film about a hardened cop who dissaproves of his sister's new relationship with a fellow schoolteacher (Reynolds). It's supposed to be a bit of a buddy movie that is currently being re-written with the duo in mind. Rger Kumble is writing that rewrite of his own script and will also direct.

Busy boy Rock is also next up in Gridiron Gang, about a counselor at a juvenile detention center who teaches the kids to learn self-esteem through football.
