Mariah Carey leads Grammy nominations

Mariah Carey, John Legend and Kanye West have bagged the monst nominations for this year's Grammy Awards. The nominations were announced today in the US.

Carey picked up eight nominations including album of the year for her release "The Emancipation of Mimi" as well as record of the year for "We Belong Together." Kayne West also picked up a nomination for song of the year with his brilliant track "Gold Digger" and album of the year for "Late Registration". Amongst Legend's nominations is best new artist. Legend has also contributed to some of West's back catalogue. Other nominees include 50 Cent, Beyonce Knowles and Stevie Wonder, who all picked up six nods, and Bruce Springsteen, Ciara, Gorillaz, Green Day, U2 and Paul McCartney all go mentions too.

The awards are dished out in Los Angeles on February 2nd, 2006.
