The
more 2006 advances, the more it seems to be the year of 80's remakes. With "Rocky
6" just around the corner, and "Revenge Of The Nerds", "Clash
Of The Titans" and many more recently announced, seemed just a matter of
time since someone would dig up "Beverly Hills Cop" for one more outing.
Paper The Sun, not always exactly always on the money when it comes to rumours,
says Eddie Murphy is just about ready to bring back his trademark role of Axel
Foley. The comedian is allegedly satisfied with the latest script being offered.
The project has
been attempted a few times before, with Jerry Bruckheimer at one point announcing
his clear intentions to bring it back, but ultimately distancing himself thanks
to back-breaking budgetary projections. Word around the water cooler is that the
many drafts provided since have the setting to a lower profile, following the
lines of the original.
Some
say an official announcement would happen if the buzz on Eddie's latest, the star-studded
"Dreamgirls", proves good enough to resurrect Murphy's career, as many
expect.
