After the stunning success of this year’s The Invisible Man, which enjoyed a decent cinema run before lockdown before going to premium video on demand, it looks like Universal has set the ‘Wolfman’ to be their next monster movie. Ryan Gosling is being lined up to play the lead in the movie and the studio is reportedly looking at directors for the project, so reports Variety.
Bad Education filmmaker Cory Finley looks like he might be one of the frontrunners for the gig at the time of writing.
The trade says that the film is set to be in the vein of Nightcrawler, that wonderful Dan Gilroy movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
We loved The Invisible Man – I actually caught the film on PVOD recently – and I truly think that going the way with quality directors is the best way for this unfolding monsters universe they are trying to build.
Be interesting to see where this one goes. More as it comes in.
