Check this out. Olivia Colman, who took away a slew of Best Actress awards for her role in last year’s The Favourite, including the Oscar, is starring in a horror movie, and it is in cinemas in just over a week. Check out the Them That Follow trailer below.
I must admit to not hearing a thing about this one until the email popped into my inbox late yesterday, but I like what I see – and even though snakes scare the life out of me, I’m also strangely drawn to them. I will be checking this out for sure.
Here’s the official blurb:
Snake handlers are spiritual renegades belonging to an obscure sect of American Pentecostalism: part of a century-old tradition of worshipping with venomous snakes during church services. Seeing themselves as the vanguards of salvation in a morally bankrupt world, believers put their lives on the line, each and every week, to prove themselves before God. Set deep in the hills of Appalachia, Them That Follow explores this unseen way of life — telling the story of a pastor’s daughter whose forbidden relationship forces her to confront the dangerous traditions of her father’s church.
Olivia Colman is having a ball at the moment. She can currently be seen in her first season as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown over on Netflix. She also appeared in the highly regarded series Fleabag and an upcoming film called The Father in 2020.
Them That Follow is written and directed by Britt Poulton and Dan Madison Savage, and there’s also a brilliant supporting cast that includes Kaitlyn Dever, Alice Englert, Jim Gaffigan, Walton Goggins, Thomas Mann, and Lewis Pullman.
Them That Follow arrives in cinemas from 22nd November through Sony Pictures. Check out the brand new poster for the film above. We have the Them That Follow trailer and a debut clip as well below.
