He’s currently starring in the superb Dolemite Is My Name on the streamer, and now it looks like Eddie Murphy will return to the streamer for a sequel to one of his biggest ever movies, Beverly Hills Cop. A few outlets are reporting that Paramount Pictures has licensed the property to Netflix to make a new movie, and then a potential follow-up in the future too.
The planned film would be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the first two movies, in 1984 and 1987, and would see Murphy reprise his role of Detroit Cop Axel Foley.
A third film was released in 1994.
There’s no timeline for the third sequel but we’ll keep you informed. Murphy is currently working on a follow-up to one of his other big hits, Coming To America. That movie is set to release in 2020.
