There’s no doubt a massive guilty pleasure watching the ‘Has Fallen’ Movies; ‘Olympus’, ‘London’, and more recently ‘Angel’ with Gerard Butler. The trilogy has struck a massive chord with audiences over the years and it comes with no surprise that more movies are being planned in this hugely successful series of films.
The films revolve around Butler’s Mike Banning, a secret service agent tasked with protecting the president in various scenarios. Aaron Eckhart played said president in the first two movies, while Morgan Freeman stepped into the shoes of the most powerful man on the planet in ‘Angel’.
It is being reported that three more films with Butler as Banning are in the works, along with some rumblings that the series will also spawn a TV/streaming spin-off that could be set in a new location featuring characters yet to be seen in a forthcoming installment on the big screen.
So far the three existing movies have grossed over half a billion dollars at the global box-office. The films have been budgeted between the $40 million and $60 million mark per film, so they are hugely profitable as well as being massively entertaining for audiences.
The last movie, Angel Has Fallen, was released earlier this year and will soon make its way to the home formats where even more success is likely.
Deadline reported the news of the planned future films. More at the end of the link.
