Robert Pattinson On The Potential Inspiration For His Batman Voice

A24/Director’s Fortnight

Robert Pattinson is out and about on the press rounds for his new movie – and indeed one of the best of the year, The Lighthouse and, of course, he has been fielding questions about his next big role, Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. One of the main elements in getting the character right is nailing the voice, but it seems that the man has already figured out what he’s going to do with it.

Speaking with in a new interview, Pattinson nodded towards his co-star in The Lighthouse, one Willem Dafoe as his inspiration. “Willem’s voice in this is quite inspiring for it to be honest. It is pretty similar to the voice I’m gonna do,” Pattinson said.

“I think Batman has a sort of pirate-y kind of voice, I think that would really suit him,” he added.

The Batman will also star Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and potentially Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.

In the same interview, Pattinson also touches on the reception of The Lighthouse and the Oscar buzz around his rather remarkable performance in the movie, which first debuted out in Cannes back in May.

The Batman has a release date set for the summer of 2021, so a little ways off yet – so before all that, make sure you put The Lighthouse as one to go and see – it really is so unique and truly marvellous.
