The Hollywood icon will also preview the fifth instalment in the legendary series, Rambo V, at the famous Grand Théâtre Lumière on Friday 24th May.

An official statement from the festival said that Stallone will introduce on stage some exclusive images of Rambo V: Last Blood. After a video montage evoking his huge career, the world premiere restoration of Ted Kotcheff’s Rambo – First Blood will be screened in 4K DCP in the Grand Théâtre Lumière.

Rambo V: Last Blood is directed by Adrian Grunberg and produced by Millennium Films. The film will star Sylvester Stallone, Paz Vega and Oscar Jaenada. Matthew Cirulnik and Sylvester Stallone wrote the script based on characters created by David Morell.

An official synopsis for the next Rambo adventure was also revealed online by Blood Disgusting.

John Rambo is now living in a ranch in Arizona, troubled with his past. When long-time family friend and estate manager Maria informs Rambo that her grand-daughter has gone missing after crossing into Mexico for a party, he sets off with her to find the youngster.

What ensues is a violent descent into hell as Rambo uncovers a sex-trafficking ring. He teams up with a journalist whose half-sister has also been kidnapped and must deploy all his skills to save the girls and bring down a vicious crime lord.

Rambo: First Blood by Ted Kotcheff (1982), starring Sylvester Stallone, Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna, will be screened with a restored print by Studiocanal. The restoration of the Rambo trilogy was made from the original camera negatives, which were scanned in 4K resolution 16bit in Technicolor Hollywood. Then the full restoration was done at Éclair in Paris. Grading was done respectively for theatrical by HDR Dolby. The film was restored frame by frame in the respect of the artistic choices of the original production.

Rambo V: Last Blood rolls out from 20th September.
