Here’s a look at a trailer for a film which has been online for a little while now, but one I’ve just been alerted to again ahead of the film’s release next month. the film is titled YULI: The Carlos Acosta Story – written by I, Daniel Blake‘s Paul Laverty – and lands on-screen on April 12th.
Directed by Icair Bollain (Take My Eyes) and written by Paul Laverty (I, Daniel Blake), the film had its debut at the 2018 San Sebastian Film Festival where it won Best Screenplay. YULI follows Carlos Acosta from his early life in a poverty-stricken neighbourhood of Havana, to defying all odds and becoming the first black artist to perform as Romeo at the Royal Ballet in London, where his career when from strength to strength.
In addition to the UK release on April 12th, the Royal Opera House are hosting a live film event on April 3rd which will be Cinecast to regional cinemas across the UK (a full list of cinemas available can be accessed at www.acostafilm. com).
