Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker James Gunn is reportedly set to write and potentially direct a sequel to DC movie Suicide Squad over at Warner Bros. Pictures. The news comes via io9 who confirmed that Gunn is in discussions to write, with an eye to direct.
The site says that the film may go in a completely different direction to David Ayer’s first movie, so this possibly exactly a sequel.
Gunn was fired by from Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due to historic tweets. He was all set to write and direct the sequel in the very lucrative series over at the Mouse House-owned Marvel, but that, alas, was never to be the case.
It seems that he will now jump ship to Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to at least write a follow-up to the polarising DC villains movie. Will he direct? We’ll keep you updated.
