One of my favourite documentaries of the year is the superb Three Identical Strangers, and we’re pleased to report that the film is finally getting a UK release through Dogwoof later in the year. More on the Three Identical Strangers UK release below.
Three Identical Strangers UK release announced for November
Three Identical Strangers won the prestigious Special Jury Prize for Documentary Story at its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival. The film tells the astonishing story of three men who make the chance discovery, at the age of 19 that they are identical triplets, separated at birth and adopted to different parents. The trio’s joyous reunion in 1980 catapults them to fame but it also sets in motion a chain of events that unearths an extraordinary and disturbing secret that goes far beyond their own lives – a secret that might one day answer key questions at the heart of all human behaviour.
I reviewed the film as part of the 2018 Sydney Film Festival back in the summer. It is a really engaging watch, totally engrossing and absolutely heartbreaking, a film which dares to go beyond the headlines and expose the real story behind the tabloids. I hugely recommended it at the time.
Read more about the film in my original review at the end of the link above.
The Three Identical Strangers UK release has been set by Dogwoof for 30 November 2018. The critically acclaimed film is a feature directorial debut for Tim Wardle (One Killer Punch, Lifers) and produced by the multi-award winning British production company Raw (The Imposter, American Animals).
There isn’t a UK specific trailer available as yet (expect that to change as we approach release), but here a look at the U.S. version to give you an idea of what to expect. We hold this film in high regard, and can’t wait for UK audiences to get the chance to see it.
