Following his brilliant turn in this year’s celebrated Leave No Trace, Ben Foster has signed on the dotted line to star in historical action-drama Medieval, which is about 14th Century Czech Icon and Warlord Jan Zizka of Trocnov.
Deadline reports the news and details the outline for the movie, saying that the story ‘will chart the story of national hero Zizka (“Jan Zizka of Trocnov,” as he also is known), a revered military tactician who defeated armies of the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman Empire. He is known for his innovative strategies and for quickly training peasants to face skilled and armored opponents who usually outnumbered his own troops. The film will also focus on his relationship with a local heiress and his faceoff against a rival king.’
Petr Jákl’s (Ghoul) has written and is directing, and also produces longside Cassian Elwes (Mudbound).
Foster, who we had the great pleasure of interviewing in Cannes this year for Leave No Trace – he’s a great guy as well as a superb actor – will next be seen in Mélanie Laurent’s Galveston.
More as we get it.
