The fifth season of Peaky Blinders will screen on BBC One in the UK rather than on BBC Two, it was announced today. BBC One is the BBC’s main and indeed most-watched channel and will debut the new adventure of Thomas Shelby and family in 2019.
The news was announced on Twitter by the BBC
CONFIRMED: The BAFTA award-winning drama series will move to @BBCOne for its highly-anticipated fifth series. Cheers to @BBCTwo for keeping it in the family. We promise to protect the Shelby name, whatever it takes… https://t.co/r2DEF1RETq #PeakyBlinders https://t.co/x9KXbV8O99

When season five was announced, series creator and writer Steven Knight said: “The thought has long been to finish after season 5,” Knight said. “But the momentum and love for the thing seems to still be growing exponentially and this is making us pause before deciding finally.”
Cillian Murphy, who plays Thomas Shelby added. “Listen, you know Steve has so many ideas. He’s so inventive, I wouldn’t be surprised. For me, I’ve always said as long as the writing stays as good as it is, I’m around.”
More as it comes in.
