“I don’t believe in the afterlife, but I do believe that paradise and hell exist. They’re right here, right now.” Arrow Video has dropped the latest British trailer for filmmaker Gaspar Noé’s musical-cum-horror Climax.
Premiering to the best reviews of Noé’s controversial career and electrifyingly shot with the cinematographer, and regular Noé collaborator, Benôit Debie‘s contortionist camerawork, Climax is a dizzying, wildly erotic journey to the depths of the human psyche.

Following a group of young dancers coming together to prepare for a US tour, Climax individually presents the eclectic and diverse troupe before seamlessly blending them into a hypnotic collective in a dazzling dance number. Post-performance, the after-party begins, Emmanuelle (Claude Gajan Maull) serves up some sangria and Daddy (Kiddy Smile) hits the decks for their last chance to party before they hit the road on tour. Soon reality starts to slip out of focus and the nightmare begins. The celebratory punch-bowl has been spiked with hallucinogens and the real trip is about to begin, as some orgiastically reach euphoric heights and others descend on a hellish odyssey to psychosis.
Climax introduces a standout cast of non-actors and professional dancers – Voguers, Krumpers and Waackers – scouted from the underground Paris ballroom scene and YouTube dance videos, also starring Sofia Boutella (Hotel Artemis, The Mummy) in a phenomenal star-making performance. Set to an almost continuous score of vintage techno, house and electronic tracks, the soundtrack flows through the after-party with the likes of Cerrone, The Rolling Stones, Soft Cell and M/A/R/R/S segueing into Aphex Twin, Daft Punk and Dopplereffekt as the drug-induced pandemonium takes hold.
Climax releases theatrically on 21st September following its premiere as closing night gala of this year’s Arrow Video Fright Fest.
