A Jason Bourne spin-off series is on the way. Fresh from the word that we are getting a Sexy Beast prequel series from Paramount, news reaches us this morning that USA Network has ordered a straight-to-series show based on the world Robert Ludlum in his original novels.
Variety reports the news adding that the planned series will focus on the fictional CIA black ops program Operation Treadstone, which was the program that created superspy Jason Bourne. The covert program uses behavior modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins.
The first season will start shooting in early 2019 with us potentially getting to see it next fall.
Tim Kring will write an executive produce the new show.
The Bourne movies, which were adapted from and inspired by the original novels, have grossed over $900 million at the worldwide box-office. A TV spin-off is sure to be a hit.
The news comes just a day after USA cancelled Ryan Phillippe-led action series Shooter.
We’ll keep you posted.
