He’s soon to be seen kicking shark-fin in the upcoming The Meg, and whilst out and about on the publicity trailer for that movie, Jason Statham has been talking about the planned Hobbs & Shaw movie, the first spin-off from The Fast & Furious franchise in which he will star opposite Dwayne Johnson.
Speaking with Collider, Statham revealed where the film will shoot a little later this year. “Most of it’s in London and then there’s a portion in Hawaii that we already know about,” he told the site.
David Leitch, director of Atomic Blonde and the more recent Deadpool 2, will direct the film over at Universal Pictures. Statham, who revealed that he once worked with Leitch on The Mechanic a few years back, said that we’re in for something a little removed from what we’ve seen in the eight-movie ‘Fast’ franchise.
“I think he’s looking to do something that doesn’t look exactly like a Fast movie. Although it’s the Fast characters, he’s trying to do his own thing with it and give it a real sense of credibility. I think Dave is going to get this one gritty, and real, and fucking hardcore.”
It sounds like shooting will kick off very soon, we presume just as soon as Dwayne Johnson finishes up on Jungle Cruise, which he’s currently filming for Disney.
