We reported just a couple of days ago that Andy Serkis’ long-awaited version of The Jungle Book, Mowgli, had been sold to Netflix and now it has been revealed that his next project, an adaptation of the George Orwell novel Animal Farm, has also been snapped up by the streamer.
Variety reports the news of the acquisition. Serkis is producing and will direct. It will be his third directorial effort after Mowgli and the real-life drama Breathe.
Matt Reeves, who directed Serkis in War For The Planet Of The Apes most recently, will also co-produce.
Animal Farm is an allegorical novella by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945. According to Orwell, the book reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union.
