Joss Whedon has revealed at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con [via The Hollywood Reporter] that he is set to reboot arguably his best creation, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Monica Owusu-Breen (ABC’s Agents of SHIELD) has been hired to write the new version, and be its showrunner, with the project set-up over at 20th Century Fox Television, the makers of the original series with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Whedon is also attached as executive producer and has been working with Breen on the screenplay. The new version will reportedly have a black actress in the lead role as Buffy.
There isn’t currently a network attached to air the show, but we’re sure that will change when it is put out for bidding later in the year. It’s bound to be a hot property.
‘Buffy’ celebrated its 20th-anniversary last year, 14 years after leaving our screens.
More on the reboot as it comes in.
