Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Ian McKellen Join ‘Cats’ Movie

Screen Daily is reporting Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden, and Ian McKellen have all joined the cast of Tom Hooper’s planned Cats movie over at Universal Pictures.

Filming on the movie, which is based on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1981 musical of the same name, will kick off in November. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films are producing the movie at the studio.

If you’re unfamiliar with the work, which was first performed in 1981 in London, here’s the official synopsis:

On just one special night of the year, all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball where Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) is adapting for the big screen. No word on who Hudson, Corden, Swift or McKellen will play, but we’ll obviously keep you posted.
