Warner Bros. Pictures has set a release date for its Joaquin Phoenix stand-alone Joker movie – October 4th, 2019. It has also been revealed that the film, which will be directed by Todd Phillips, will simply be titled Joker.
The U.S. release date puts it up against Will Smith starrer Gemini Man from director Ang Lee and Joe Wright’s The Woman in the Window, which will star Amy Adams.
The release date announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con which gets underway today. Warner Bros. and DC ghave a panel due at the annual gathering for film geeks this coming Saturday, so we may expect more news then.
Todd Phillips directs Joker from a screenplay he wrote with Scott Silver. Phoenix will play the title character in the movie, which is a completely different project and nothing to do with Jared Leto’s Joker. A stand-alone is also planned for that offshoot from Suicide Squad but no details have yet been released.
More as it comes in.
