Poster Lands For WWII Feature ‘Hurricane’

The first posters for upcoming WWII movie Hurricane has landed. The film tells the incredible true story of the heroic Polish pilots who fought alongside the Royal Air Force in order to take down the Nazi invaders during the Battle of Britain. This fascinating story is the first movie from Rakuten Cinema and lands on 7th September in UK cinemas and on main digital platforms including iTunes, Google Play, and Rakuten TV.

The movie is courtesy of KALEIDOSCOPE ENTERTAINMENT, in partnership with Rakuten Cinema. Premiering its first release with Hurricane, Rakuten Cinema is the new brand that the VOD platform Rakuten TV created for its original content, with a specific distribution model based on simultaneous theatrical and VOD release and the clear aim to empowering independent producers to distribute great stories and stand head-to-head with their Hollywood counterparts.

This powerful and gripping WWII RAF story is directed by David Blair (The Messenger, Away, Accused) and includes an impressive ensemble cast including Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, Marvel’s Inhumans), Milo Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge), Stefanie Martini (Crooked House, Prime Suspect 1973), Krystof Hadek (Under the Skin, Dark Blue World) and Marcin Dorocinski (Pitbull Anthropoid), Filip Plawiak (Aftermath, Demon, The Red Spider) and Adrian Zamba (TV’s Belfer)

In the current climate of constant change and uncertainty in Europe, Hurricane is a story that particularly resonates in showing how nations standing together and working in unity can triumph.

Hurricane tells the story of the Polish fliers who found themselves fighting for the freedom of their own country in foreign skies. Seen through the eyes of Jan Zumbach (Rheon), fighter ace and adventurer, it tells how the Poles, driven across Europe by the German war machine, finally made their last stand. Flying Hurricanes for the RAF over Britain, they became a key component in the legend of ‘The Few’. Up against the might of the Luftwaffe they hoped that, by saving Great Britain from Nazi invasion, they were keeping the dream of a free Poland alive.

In the lethal melee above England in that summer of 1940, they fought with a tenacity and skill that earned them the admiration of the whole British nation. The dogfights against superior planes cost some of the men their lives. The constant strain of gladiatorial combat took away the sanity of others. But, as Zumbach discovers as the war stutters to a close, becoming the best in the RAF is a hollow victory for the Poles.

This astonishing story is brought to life on screen in Hurricane, using one of the last operating Hurricanes in existence during filming and highlighting the sheer bravery of the Polish pilots involved, who still to this day are huge historical icons in Poland.

With the RAF celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Hurricane is the ideal purchase for fans of historical, war and action films.

The poster can be seen above (and below). Hurricane lands in UK Cinemas and On Digital Platforms September 7. For more go to hurricanefilm.co.uk.
