It has been confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson is set to be de-aged for the entire running time of the in-production Captain Marvel. The movie will see Jackson de-aged a full 25 years for his role as Nick Fury in the forthcoming movie, which would see him look a bit like he did in Jurassic Park over two decades ago. Look:
Marvel has, of course, used the de-aging process before – like in their latest movie Ant-Man and the Wasp with Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, and of course with Robert Downey Jr an Kurt Russell in the past, but this will be the first time that the effect will have been applied to an entire performance.
Speaking to SlashFilm Marvel president Kevin Feige confirmed that “without spoiling anything, Sam Jackson is shooting a movie for us right now where he’s entirely 25 years younger the whole movie.”
The effect will also be applied to Clark Gregg’s character of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson.
“You have all the reference material and they have aged amazingly,” added Feige. “They’ve not aged like normal humans… It’s like Paul Rudd. He somehow can do that effect in real life.”
Jackson can currently be heard in Incredibles 2, Pixar’s latest which finally opens in the UK on Friday.
Captain Marvel will be released in 2019.
